My name is Debby and I am a fully qualified and insured Person Centred Counsellor.
I follow the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) code of ethics.
I have been counselling for a number of years. During this time I have gained experience of working with clients on numerous issues, both on a long and short term basis.
I have also taught Counselling Concepts and Counselling Skills level III. I have supervised support line volunteers for a national abuse helpline as well as co-facilitating a support group for adult survivors of abuse and co-facilitating on-going support for survivors, after attendance on the course in a local Prison.
My philosophy is quite simple. I believe we all know ourselves the best and feel my role to be one of helping you find your own best way forward, rather than one of giving advice. We can all reach our full potential and make changes when we feel empowered.
As a non-directive Counsellor, I will not push you to explore anything you feel uncomfortable about. You dictate the pace and what we talk about.
We will work together on the things that are troubling you now. You may discover links to the past and identifying these links could shed new light on the present.
It is important to me that I continue with my own growth and development. To this end, I attend personal development sessions, professional workshops and ongoing supervision.
