Frequently Asked Questions.

What is counselling?

Counselling can offer the opportunity to talk in confidence about problems or issues that concern you.  It is a therapeutic approach to help you explore and understand current difficulties, and to make choices in your life.

The aim of counselling is to help individuals take responsibility for their own decisions, gain clarity and become more aware of their personal resources.

Do I need therapy?

Counselling may be for you if you are feeling anxious, depressed, or unfulfilled in any sense and nothing seems to help.

Counselling can enable you to develop new ways of coping.

Is counselling confidential?

Counselling is confidential within specified legal boundaries which we will discuss in our initial session.

What will happen in the first counselling session?

The first session offers the opportunity for us to explore what it is you want from

counselling, and decide if we want to work together.

Will you tell me what to do?

As a person centred counsellor I strive to be non-judgmental and non-directive. This allows you to move at your own pace, to make discoveries about yourself and to make changes as and when you feel ready.
